Job summary

Interstate Concrete & Asphalt is seeking a dedicated Plant Maintenance Technician to keep batch operations running and ensure quality concrete delivery. You will learn mix designs, monitor equipment, and coordinate with dispatch and drivers to optimize batching performance.

We provide training, a safety‑mocused team environment, and pathways for internal mobility. This role requires mechanical aptitude, a valid driver's license, and a readiness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Equipment operation and/or mechanical skills highly preferred.
• Previous experience in construction or related setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain batch plant operations to ensure timely delivery of concrete.
• Verify specific concrete on incoming tickets and enter correct mix design into computer.
• Monitor gauges, dials and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
• Coordinate batching and loading of all concrete leaving plant. Check concretes slump to ensure proper specifications.
• Communicate and receive directions from dispatch, drivers, operators and customers by radio/phone.
• Diagnose and repair batch plant equipment. Coordinate equipment and personnel for larger repairs.
• Service and grease batch plant parts, i.e. change belts, chip mixer, and maintain cleanliness of plant.
• During cold weather, may poke material and stomp lumps.
• Direct general operations of loader operator and loader.
• Keep machines cleaned and maintained.
• Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Carry and stock admixtures for batch plant
• During cold weather, may poke material and stomp lumps
• Direct general operations of loader operator and loader.

Other Related Responsibilities

• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Keep machines cleaned and maintained.
• Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.
• Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
• Regular and timely attendance.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Equipment operation and/or mechanical skills highly preferred.
