The Batch Maker Technician is responsible for the accurate preparation and execution of chemical batches in alignment with the Production Planning (PCP) schedule. This includes adherence to FIFO principles and execution based on the Heijunka Board sequencing defined by the area leader to ensure leveled, consistent, and efficient production flow.
In addition to batch execution, this role is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing mixing bowls, containers, and production equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operations. The technician must strictly follow laboratory-issued procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements to ensure product consistency and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Clean mixing bowls, tanks, containers, and all production equipment used in chemical manufacturing.
- Properly identify, group, segregate, and organize leftover materials for safe handling and compliant disposal.
- Execute batch production activities according to the PCP schedule, following FIFO principles and Heijunka Board sequencing established by the area leader.
- Follow standardized, step-by-step batch procedures issued by the Laboratory without deviation.
- Ensure all batches meet established formulation, quality, and process requirements.
- Maintain full compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety procedures, and chemical handling protocols.
- Demonstrated experience operating industrial batch manufacturing processes for formulated chemical products (such as adhesives, coatings, sealants, paints, inks, resins, or similar).
- Properly wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Inspect equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and safety; promptly report any issues or damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment at all times.
- Dispose of chemical waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Support production activities as needed, including equipment setup and preparation.
- Accurately complete cleaning logs, batch records, and all required documentation.
- Follow supervisor instructions and production priorities to support operational needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning or manufacturing preferred.
- Experience in batch processing or chemical manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely work with chemicals and industrial equipment.
- Strong ability to follow written procedures and detailed batch instructions.
- High attention to detail with strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Reliable attendance and strong punctuality required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/chemical plant environment.
- Ability to work while wearing PPE for extended periods.
- Industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to chemicals, odors, noise, and varying temperatures.
- PPE required at all times in production areas.
