Job summary

City of Eureka's Recreation Division seeks a part-time Recreation Official I/II to officiate basketball games at Adorni Center and other sites. You will direct players and coaches, enforce game rules, and help with equipment setup and safety procedures, including basic incident reporting.

Weekend and evening shifts are common, with opportunities to advance through Official I to III levels based on experience. Must pass background checks and obtain CPR/First Aid within two months of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience officiating various sports programs or closely related program.
• Ability to provide responsible customer service and safety guidance.
• Knowledge of game rules, scorekeeping and incident reporting.

Responsibilities

• Direct players and coaches, enforce all game rules and assist in accident/incident reports.
• Communicate rules and sportsmanship to participants.
• Ensure participants are registered, keep official score when applicable.
• Open/close facilities and set up/take down equipment safely.
• Maintain facilities and equipment, perform basic safety checks.
• Assist with health and safety compliance and related tasks.
