Job summary

IHA in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a qualified Emergency Medical Technician for a full-time position with a rotating 12-hour shift. This role requires basic life support and patient transport, reporting to a Field Supervisor, and working within Pro-Med protocols.

Qualifications

  • Current EMT Basic license from the State of Michigan is required.
  • Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operator license with clean driving history is required.
  • Renders basic life support procedures per protocols and communicates with medical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Render basic life support to patients per local protocols.
  • Provide clear oral reports to medical personnel.
  • Operate Pro-Med vehicles safely and professionally.
  • Communicate with Dispatch via radio or phone.
  • Complete reports legibly and timely.
  • Check supplies and vehicle at shift changes.
  • Inspect vehicle readiness (brakes, lights, fluids).
  • Perform duties safely, confidentially, and professionally.
  • Provide medical examination and screening per Medical Control Authority.
  • Use PPE as required by law and company policies.
  • Maintain vehicles and quarters per Pro-Med policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Performs basic life support procedures consistent with state and local operating protocols. Operates within the scope of practice covered by his/her licensure level under the direction of a physician and consistent with local standard operating protocols. Reports to Field Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Of a Emergency Medical Technician
  • Renders basic life support procedures to patients in a variety of settings consistent with state and local operating protocols.
  • Ability to provide good and accurate oral reports to designated medical personnel.
  • Operates Pro-Med vehicles in a safe, professional manner being attentive to the needs of patients he/she is transporting.
  • Communicates with Dispatch via radio or telephone.
  • Completes all reports legibly, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • At each shift change, checks operating supplies and vehicle utilizing Pro-Med’s shift checklist.
  • At each shift change, inspects vehicle to ensure that it is ready for service (e.g. brakes, lights, fluids, etc.)
  • Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential and professional manner, always taking into account the well being of the patient.
  • Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with Medical Control Authority protocols
  • Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies.
  • Maintains vehicles and quarters pursuant to Pro-Med policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current EMT Basic license from the State of Michigan.

Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history.
