Job summary

Lincolnton High School is seeking a Baseball Varsity Assistant Coach for immediate spring season. Responsibilities include assisting in planning, administration and fostering a positive learning environment for student athletes.

Candidates must be at least 21, hold a HS diploma or GED, and complete NFHS coaching courses. CPR certification is required for paid coaches, with onboarding, screenings and health requirements handled by the district.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• HS Diploma or GED.
• coaching experience preferred.
• All coaches (volunteer or paid) must complete the required coaching courses NFHS.com before being approved to work with student athletes.
• CPR certification required for paid coaches and may be completed through the school system if needed.
• Must complete HR onboarding policies, HR screening (drug test and background check) and have a current health physical and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing and implementing an instructional program in the sport as assigned by the coach.
• Assist in administering the sport program.
• Foster a climate conducive to learning.
• Establish and implement an improvement process for the sport.
• Establish good public and employee relations for the sport as assigned by the Coach.
• Maintain professional work habits and upgrade professional skills.
• Communicate with parents and the educational community.
• Implement fundamental sports skills and coaching systems.
• Cooperate with the principal and head coach; organize coaching staff and develop rapport with participants, staff, officials and community.

REPORTS TO:Principal, Athletic Director

SALARY: Coaching Stipend - based on coaching experience with NCHSAA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in providing leadership and support in planning, developing and implementing an instructional program in the sport as assigned by the coach
• Assists in providing leadership and support in administering the sport program
• Assists in fostering a climate conducive to learning as assigned by the coach
• Assists in establishing and implementing an improvement process for the sport as assigned by the coach
• Assists in establishing good public and employee relations for the sport as assigned by the Coach
• Maintains professional work habits
• Maintains and upgrades his/her professional skills in order to improve instruction for students
• Communicates with parents and the educational community (Professional and Interpersonal Relations)
• Implements fundamental sports skills and sports management systems (Coaching and Related Areas)
• Cooperates with school principal and head coach; develops rapport with coaching staff and with the school; helps to organize coaching staff; develops positive relationship with participants, student body, faculty, parents and community, game officials, news media, opponents and employees; employs appropriate conduct during games and practices; participates in activities that foster professional growth and development; commands respect by example in appearance, manners, behavior and language
• Other duties as assigned

COACHING COURSES REQUIRED

All coaches (volunteer or paid) must complete the following courses through the National Fundamentals of High School (NFHS.com) before being approved to work with student athletes:

• Fundamentals of Coaching (8 +/- hour) High School Coaches
• Concussion Training (45 minute) - All Coaches
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest– All Coaches
• CPR Certificate Required
