Job summary

Harrison School District 2 is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician to program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain BAS across district facilities. You will work under the Lead HVAC and Controls Mechanic, collaborating with HVAC staff and electricians to optimize comfort, efficiency, and energy use.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years in HVAC and controls, and programming experience; familiarity with BAS operations and reading schematics is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework in BAS or HVAC preferred.
• Over 3 years in repair/maintenance of HVAC and controls; 1 year in programming HVAC controls.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with BAS operations, control theory, and HVAC equipment; reading schematics.
• Criminal background check and district fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain BAS equipment to ensure comfort and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot BAS hardware, software, sensors, and controllers; ensure code compliance.
• Perform diagnostics and coordinate repairs for VAVs, boilers, air handlers, and RTUs.
• Interface with HVAC staff and other trades; communicate BAS findings.
• Review energy consumption and suggest efficiency improvements.
• Estimate materials and labor for BAS repair or upgrade projects.
• Perform or coordinate software/firmware updates and backups.
• Coordinate with IT/contracts to maintain network connectivity and security.
• Provide minor support for integrated systems (fire alarm, security, intercom).
• Maintain documentation of configurations, schedules, alarms, and performance.
