Job summary

Boyum Barenscheer is a Top 20 Twin Cities accounting firm seeking a BAS Senior Accountant to organize and coordinate clients’ tax data for timely individual and simple to moderately complex corporate tax returns. The role includes QuickBooks consulting, training, and outsourced accounting with collaboration across departments.

The position emphasizes client service, technical accounting support, and mentoring staff, with flexible in-office, hybrid, or remote work arrangements depending on role

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting or tax preparation preferred.
• Active CPA licensure preferred.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
• Minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepares required tax returns in accordance with firm and professional standards as directed by engagement leaders.
• Provides technical assistance to clients in all areas of accounting.
• Leads client QuickBooks Training.
• Communicates with engagement leaders and clients regarding open items and other pertinent matters in a timely manner.
• Performs tax return interviews with clients as needed.
• Creates, reconciles and ties out trial balances.
• Reviews basic accounting trial balance.
• Trains and mentors staff on simple accounting and tax returns.
• Proactively manages project timelines and budgets.

A Business Advisory Services (BAS) Senior Accountant organizes and coordinates clients’ tax data for the accurate, timely completion of individual tax returns and simple to moderately complex corporate, partnership, and S-Corp tax returns. This position also involves QuickBooks consulting and training, outsourced accounting, and requires frequent collaboration with other departments and associates.

BAS Senior Accountant Responsibilities
