Job description

Responsibilities
  • Independently operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot BAS infrastructure using Schneider Electric controllers (e.g., EcoStruxure / SmartStruxure platforms).
  • Support and administer Niagara N4 frontend systems used as a supervisory overlay.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis across controls, field devices, and mechanical systems.
  • Support operations and optimization of chiller plants, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, VAVs, and VFDs.
  • Execute proactive and preventative maintenance activities focused on system reliability, uptime, and efficiency.
  • Review trends, alarms, and system data to identify abnormal behavior and prevent failures.
  • Validate control sequences, logic, and graphics; recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Interface with facility operations, engineers, and leadership in a high‑visibility environment.
  • Support commissioning, point‑to‑point verification, and functional testing activities.
  • Coordinate with third‑party vendors and OEMs; oversee quality and compliance of external work.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, as‑built drawings, sequences of operation, and change records.
  • Ensure adherence to site safety standards, operational procedures, and best practices.
  • Mentor and train facilities team members on operation and control of the BMS.
  • Perform point‑to‑point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
  • Perform first‑line diagnostics, troubleshooting and maintenance of programming code and hardware associated with the BMS.
  • Perform provisioning processes for servers, controllers, industrial PCs, network configurations and communication testing between third‑party devices and controllers or servers.
  • Install, replace, configure, and calibrate sensors, actuators, controllers, fiber, and other BAS components.
  • Demonstrate understanding of closed‑loop controls, functions, and sequence of operations; read and understand electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
  • Support commissioning and system‑level testing.
  • Follow change‑management processes to generate work requests and method of procedure documents.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.
  • Recommend design improvements based on consultation with users and system operation.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and retroactive commissioning.
  • Perform service activities such as monitoring/reviewing ticketing systems, performing root‑cause analysis, and prioritizing tasks.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma/GED with (7) years of experience as a BAS / Controls Technician supporting commercial, industrial, or critical facilities.
  • 5+ years of experience in controls programming, sequence development, and system integration.
  • Niagara N4 certification (Technical Certification or higher).
  • Schneider Electric training or OEM certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with Schneider Electric BAS platforms (EcoStruxure / SmartStruxure controllers).
  • Demonstrated experience with Niagara N4, including station navigation, point management, alarms, and trending.
  • Proven ability to educate and mentor junior employees on controls systems, building mechanical systems, and HVAC fundamentals.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting chiller plants, cooling towers, AHUs, and central utility systems.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and tasks, and self‑prioritize and schedule work.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capability at both the software and physical device level.
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and IP‑based BAS networking.
  • Experience with preventative and reliability‑focused maintenance programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism in high‑visibility operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading small teams and small to mid‑size projects.
  • CMRT, HVAC, electrical, or related technical certifications.
  • Experience in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, labs, hospitals, or industrial campuses.

Abilities
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Must be able to work at various heights up to 60 feet, including ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and catwalks.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Must possess good vision (correctable) and the ability to see in color.
  • Must be able to hear and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Must be able to recognize when something is going wrong or likely to go wrong.
  • Must be able to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers.
  • Must be able to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
  • Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Must be able to listen to and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences.
Pay Range

USD $51.00 - $62.00 /Hr.

Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; HSPD-12 & Secret Clearance required.
