Job summary

SMX is seeking a BAS Architect / Technical Lead to guide the technical solution design and implementation of the NASA BAS capability, leveraging SAP Analytics Cloud and enterprise financial data integration. This full-time, remote role requires leading data pipelines, architecture governance, and collaboration with a Federal Financials/Functional lead to ensure FFMSR, USSGL, and FedRAMP compliance.

Ten+ years in architecture and SAC/SAP integration are expected, with Public Trust clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
• 10+ years in technical architecture, data integration, or enterprise solution implementation.
• Experience as an architect specializing in SAP Analytics Cloud and enterprise data integration.
• Familiarity with SAP financial systems (ECC or S/4HANA) and native connectivity (OData, CDS).
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Job description

SMX is seeking a BAS Architect / Technical Lead . The mission of the client service delivery team at SMX is to create and deploy innovative products to our federal customers. The CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend (BAS) solution is a planning and reporting solution pre‑built for the federal government and operating on SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

This is a highly technical leadership role that enables an experienced architect specializing in SAP Analytics Cloud and enterprise financial data integration to guide the technical solution design and implementation of NASA’s BAS capability. We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and collaborative BAS Architect / Technical Lead to lead technical architecture, data integration, reporting configuration, and solution deployment aligned with the organization’s financial, compliance, and modernization objectives. This is a full-time position that is 100% remote and will require minimal travel <20% and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical solution design and implementation of the BAS capability, aligned with financial, compliance, and modernization objectives.
• Architect, develop, and deploy automated, bidirectional data pipelines to connect the solution directly with NASA's financial systems (SAP ECC/S4HANA).
• Oversee data integration, reporting configuration, and solution deployment.
• Ensure the solution design adheres to Federal Financial Management System Requirements (FFMSR), U.S. Standard General Ledger (USSGL), and FedRAMP security standards.
• Provide technical leadership for data consolidation, performance reporting, and the configuration of dynamic reports and analytics
• Work alongside a Federal Financials/Functional lead who will gather business requirements with the client.
• Serve as team lead to a small group of SAC developers. Work with PM to ensure tasking is appropriate and mentor junior developers as needed.
• Work with internal Solutions team to provide feedback and new requirements to ensure client needs are integrated back to the product.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in technical architecture, data integration, or enterprise solution implementation.
• Demonstrated experience as an architect specializing in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and enterprise financial data integration.
• Experience with SAP financial systems (SAP ECC or S/4HANA) and native SAP connectivity protocols (e.g., OData, CDS views).
• Strong understanding of technical architecture, data engineering, and SAP integration.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Experience deploying financial planning and/or Business Intelligence applications.
• Background in enterprise solution implementations for federal government clients.
• Familiarity with federal budget execution processes.

The proposed salary for this position is:

$144,100—$225,100 USD
