Job summary

1 Hotels Austin is seeking a beverage-forward bartender to craft classic and creative drinks, warmly welcome guests, and deliver a memorable experience in a fast-paced hotel bar.

You will maintain knowledge of the menu, create cocktails and mocktails with high‑quality ingredients, stay on top of safety and sanitation, and collaborate with a passionate team.

This role requires flexibility for a 24‑hour operation, the ability to stand long shifts, and a commitment to Good‑Natured Service.

Qualifications

• Prior bartending experience.
• Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
• Organised and proficient at multitasking.
• Reliable team player willing to learn and adapt to new situations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Food handling certification (can be obtained during employment).

• Continually innovate and introduce new and exciting drink creations.
• Provide exceptional customer service with warm, professional conversation and personalisation.
• Take drink orders, prepare and serve beverages with attention to presentation.
• Ensure orders comply with company standards and customer requests.
• Understand mixology including spirits, liqueurs, bitters and ingredients.
• Stay updated on industry trends and techniques.
• Maintain clean and organized bar area; sanitize utensils and glassware.
• Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols and handle ingredients properly.
• Follow policies, dress code and attendance.
• Open side work and set up station; attend training and department meetings.
• Close procedures and proper food handling.

• Craft classic and creative alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages, engaging with customers and ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the full food and drink menu while making recommendations.
• Create a diverse range of handcrafted cocktails, mocktails and other specialty beverages with precision and flair, using high‑quality ingredients, techniques and garnishes.

• Provide exceptional customer service by warmly welcoming guests, engaging in friendly and professional conversation and understanding their preferences.
• Offer recommendations and suggestions based on guests’ tastes, ensuring a personalised and enjoyable experience.
• Efficiently and accurately take drink orders, prepare them promptly and serve beverages with attention to detail and presentation.
• Ensure all orders are prepared in compliance with company standards and specific customer requests.
• Demonstrate extensive understanding of classic and contemporary mixology, including various spirits, liqueurs, bitters and other ingredients.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and new techniques within the industry.
• Maintain a clean and organised bar area, ensuring all glassware, utensils and bar tools are sanitized and readily available.
• Adhere to safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
• Uphold company policies and procedures, including adhering to work schedules, dress code and attendance guidelines.
• Perform opening side work and set up the station.
• Attend and participate in any training sessions and department meetings.
• Properly execute closing procedures.
• Follow high standards of food product, sanitation, storage and handling procedures.
• Provide guest checks promptly and return receipt promptly.
• Keep all service and table areas clean, organised and stocked.
• Practice highest regard for safety within all areas and with all materials.
• Follow and adhere to all standards set forth by federal and state guidelines.
• Have knowledge of state and federal liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcohol.
• Perform other related activities as assigned by management.
• Guarantee neat and quality service.
• Follow company cash handling and payment tendering procedures with care.
• Properly store flammable materials.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures and standards with self and colleagues.
