Sonesta International Hotels in Austin is seeking a friendly Bartender who can deliver consistent, high-quality service across the hotel's social venues. You will set up, serve, and break down the bar area, ensuring accuracy, guest satisfaction, and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires beverage knowledge, the ability to read guests, suggest cocktails, handle cash transactions, and assist as a server when needed.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to read customers and determine beverage preferences.
• Knowledge of beverage preparation and cocktail recipes.
• Ability to handle cash and balance cash register.
• Maintain clean, organized bar area; comply with safety regulations.
• Willingness to serve as a server when needed.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
• Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
• Also acts as a Server when needed.
• Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
• Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
• Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
• Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Developing new cocktail recipes.

What this role is all about

The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The bartender sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency and service.
