BARTENDER SUSHI CENTRAL
Position Summary

The Bartender at our Japanese Sushi Restaurant is a dynamic and integral part of the front-of-house team. This role requires an expert professional with a deep appreciation for Japanese spirits, sake, and beer, as well as a passion for crafting innovative and classic cocktails. The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable, creative, and engaging professional who can provide a high level of service to guests at the bar, while also supporting the dining room staff with beverage orders.

Key Responsibilities
Beverage Craft & Service
  • Prepare and serve a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including sake, Japanese whiskey, shochu, beer, wine, and craft cocktails.
  • Create and maintain an extensive and well-rounded cocktail program, incorporating traditional Japanese flavors and techniques.
  • Provide expert recommendations to guests on beverage selections and pairings, particularly with our sushi and Japanese cuisine.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all beverage offerings, including their ingredients, flavor profiles, and origins.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various types of sake, including different brewing methods, flavor notes, and regional distinctions.
  • Serve drinks with precision and a commitment to presentation, ensuring every cocktail is a work of art.
Guest Experience & Sales
  • Warmly greet and engage with guests at the bar, creating a welcoming and memorable experience.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Anticipate guest needs and proactively check on their satisfaction.
  • Handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally and gracefully.
  • Upsell premium beverages, seasonal specials, and signature cocktails.
  • Process payments accurately and promptly.
  • Adhere to all local and state regulations regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol.
Bar Operations & Upkeep
  • Set up and break down the bar for each shift, ensuring it is fully stocked and immaculate.
  • Maintain inventory by communicating low stock levels and assisting with ordering.
  • Wash and polish glassware, keeping it sparkling clean for service.
  • Ensure the bar area is always clean, organized, and free of clutter.
  • Collaborate effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food and beverage handling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of bartending experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or bar.
