Bartender Position Summary:The bartender is responsible for maintaining a clean and inviting bar atmosphere for our hotelguests. The bartender must take personal ownership for preparing and serving beverages andfood to guests. The bartender must have a sense of personal responsibility and ownership forthe hotel, the guests, and the overall quality of service delivered by every area of the hotel.Job Responsibilities:1. Arrive to work on time and give advance notice when absence is anticipated. Wearproper uniform and always have on your name tag.2. Make yourself available to employees and guests at all times. Relate to employees andguests in a respectful manner. Communicate with sensitivity and tact.3. Take the initiative to speak to a guest before they speak to you. Acknowledge guestswith eye contact and a greeting. Offer assistance to guests. Always try to be one stepahead of them in meeting their needs.4. Keep all storage areas neat and clean. Establish a set of personal quality standards forthe service area in cleanliness and work continuously to maintain those standards. Washhands frequently.5. Be aware of all city, state and federal regulations concerning health codes and rules thatspecifically pertain to a place where food and beverage is served. Verify age prior toserving alcoholic beverages to any guests. Monitor guest intoxication to determine if aguest needs to be cut off.6. Prepare all beverages. Serve all beverage and food orders. Deliver any room serviceorders to the guest room.7. Secure payment for all orders. Maintain accuracy in handling cash. Responsible for thecash drawer and balancing shift report. Know how to handle money and make changecorrectly. Get guest room numbers to prevent non-payment.8. Keep all beverages and supplies stocked and fresh. Take inventory of beverage supplies.Inform management of your supply needs.9. Help other employees when needed. Refer guest requests or concerns to theappropriate department. Report pertinent information to the next shift orally and in logbooks.10. Each employee is part of the hotel security team and is responsible for reporting anypotential hazards to the management and should investigate any alleged injuries whichoccur on the premises in the absence of the manager. An Incident Report (for guests) oran Accident report (for employees) should be completed.11. Know where gas, electric, water cut off, and breakers are located. Know location ofemergency lights.12. Bartender must be able to lift 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and go up and down stairs.Employee is required to seek assistance if unable to lift or move an item over 30 pounds.13. Perform all duties assigned by manager. The bartender may be called upon to help inshort-staffed areas. He/she must undergo all the screening questions before performingthose job descriptions.No employee is to clock in for another. No employee will be clocked in who is not physicallyworking. No employee will work unless they are clocked in. All employees will clock out whentaking lunch or when leaving the property for any reason other than approved companybusiness. Employee must punch out sometime between 12:00 and 1:00 for a mandatory30-minute lunch break. No smoking in laundry.Employees are to follow all company policies and procedures as stated as well as any new policyimplemented in the future.Experience preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in a fast-paced hospitality environment.Strong customer service skills with the ability to greet guests, anticipate needs, and provide friendly, professional service.Knowledge of responsible alcohol service, including age verification and monitoring guest intoxication.Cash handling experience with the ability to process payments accurately, balance cash drawers, and maintain shift reports.Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and health code regulations for food and beverage service.Ability to prepare and serve food and beverage orders efficiently, including room service deliveries.Skilled in maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area.Experience monitoring inventory, restocking supplies, and communicating inventory needs to management.Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to support coworkers and coordinate with other hotel departments.Detail-oriented with excellent time management and the ability to multitask during busy shifts.Dependable with a proven record of punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.Knowledge of hotel safety procedures, incident reporting, and emergency protocols.Physically capable of lifting up to 30 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.Flexible and willing to assist in other hotel departments as needed.
