Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, CA is seeking an experienced Bartender to lead bar operations, craft cocktails, and deliver exceptional member experiences. This role requires strong leadership, wine knowledge, and meticulous attention to detail in a luxury resort setting.

Responsibilities include training staff, managing SOPs, inventory, and POS transactions while maintaining high standards of service during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership skills in Food and Beverage operations at a high end or luxury resort, restaurant, or private club.
  • Two to three years of bartending experience in a fast paced, luxury setting.
  • Knowledge of HACCP & local food safety standards; maintains or can obtain State Food Safety Certificate.
  • Robust knowledge of wines and beverages.
  • Passion for trends in the liquor community and creative menu development.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, quality and service.

  • Greet guests and members politely, anticipate needs, and respond promptly.
  • Partner with F&B and Culinary Leadership to create beverage pairings and experiences.
  • Supervise and train bar staff on SOPs, drink prep, food handling, POS input, and bar setup/breakdown.
  • Oversee bar inventories and assist with stocking and ordering supplies.
  • Craft exceptional cocktails, follow house recipes, and manage pour ratios.
  • Present knowledge of beverages and ingredients; make recommendations, including wine pairings.
  • Understand menu items and daily specials; accommodate allergies and special requests.
  • Enter transactions into POS, issue checks, and close sales per policy.
  • Maintain clean, organized bar and storage areas; manage opening/closing and perishables.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee bar staff to ensure staff provides exceptional service and communication at all times with members / guests and team members.
  • Greet all guests and members politely and promptly, proactively anticipate needs to enhance experience, demonstrate sense of urgency for responding to guest needs during all interactions.
  • Partner with Food & Beverage and Culinary Leadership to create beverage pairings and outstanding experiences for members and guests.
  • Supervise and train bar staff on SOPs of the bar operation, including preparing and delivering drinks, handling food, entering orders into the POS, and bar set up and break down.
  • Oversee bar inventories and supplies and assist with order supplies and stocking as needed.
  • Execute exceptional craft cocktails, follow recipes for syrups and all house-made ingredients, and prepare and serve beverages to company standards, including pour ratio.
  • Present extensive knowledge of all beverages and ingredients, make recommendations based upon preferences or food pairings, including wine knowledge.
  • Thorough understanding of all menu items and daily specials, be attentive to food allergies and special menu requests.
  • Enter all transactions accordingly into POS system, issue accurate checks, and close sales timely and according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar and bar storage areas at all times, complete daily stocking and opening / closing procedures, monitor expiration of perishable items, and adhere to food safety standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership skills in Food and Beverage operations at a high end or luxury resort, restaurant, or private club.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of previous bartending experience, preferably in a fast paced, luxury restaurant, resort, or private club.
  • Knowledge of HACCP & local food safety standards; possesses or can obtain State Food Safety Certificate.
  • Robust knowledgeable of wines and beverage.
  • A passion for trends within the liquor community and think creatively about new drinks or menu items the bar may develop.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, quality and service.

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
