Job summary

Commonwealth Lodging Management LL is seeking a customer-focused F&B attendant to support hotel outlets in Columbia, SC. You will greet guests, take beverage and food orders, and assist with upselling while ensuring compliance with liquor laws.

The role requires 1–2 years in food and beverage, basic computer skills, and good English communication. You will help maintain clean work areas, assist with opening/closing duties, and process payments with POS systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification in an alcohol awareness program preferred.
• Computer skills including MS Office; familiarity with food & beverage POS systems.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• 1–2 years experience in food and beverage preferred; cash handling experience favored.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, take food and beverage orders, and upsell where appropriate.
• Prepare drink orders following outlet recipes; assist bartenders as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, hours, and promotions; monitor daily house counts and events.
• Ensure safe, legal alcohol service and monitor for minor, intoxicated, or improper service.
• Assist with opening/closing duties, inventories, and cash handling per SOP.
• Operate and maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety and sanitation guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:Be in proper uniform, with a nametag.Always maintain positive guest relations and maintain guest confidentiality. Work to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.Greet guests and take their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive up selling techniques.Maintain knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, special packages and promotions, daily house count and expected arrivals and departures and scheduled daily group activities.Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.Prepare all drink orders for guests according to outlet recipes.Assist Barbacks and Cocktail Servers in their job functions to ensure smooth and efficient service to guests.Prepare consumption report promptly according to specified procedures; Legibly complete bottle transfer slips and distribute accurately; Legibly document designated items on the spill sheet.Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and nonalcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet.Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine, champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink.Maintain complete knowledge of table, seat, station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet.Assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly inventories.Obtain method of payment from guests (credit or cash) and maintain and secure a cash bank to perform job functions.
