Job summary

Hotel Kansas City, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is seeking an engaging Server & Barista for the Lobby Market. You will greet guests, craft quality coffee and beverages, provide warm, efficient service, and maintain a clean, organized station in a busy morning setting.

The ideal candidate has prior serving or barista experience, is comfortable with cash handling and POS systems, and brings a hospitality-first mindset, teamwork, and a willingness to learn our menu and offerings.

We're looking for an engaging, energetic Server & Barista who enjoys connecting with people, takes pride in preparing quality beverages, and understands that even the quickest interaction can leave a lasting impression.

What You'll Do

As a Server & Barista in the Lobby Market, you'll be one of the first friendly faces our guests see as they begin their day. You'll provide warm, efficient counter or sit-down style service while preparing crafted coffees, teas, and other beverages and helping create an inviting, well-organized environment.

• Welcome guests with warmth, energy, and genuine hospitality.
• Take the time to understand what guests are looking for and make thoughtful recommendations.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes, presentation standards, and guest preferences.
• Provide friendly and efficient counter-style breakfast and market service.
• Develop a strong knowledge of our food and beverage offerings so you can confidently answer questions and guide guests through their options.
• Accurately take, enter, and deliver guest orders while maintaining an efficient pace of service.
• Handle POS transactions, guest payments, and cash accurately and responsibly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and welcoming Lobby Market throughout the shift.
• Prepare your station for service and help ensure products, supplies, equipment, and service areas are ready for the day.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond quickly and thoughtfully to questions or requests.
• Partner with Culinary, Food & Beverage leadership, and fellow colleagues to keep service running smoothly.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, cash-handling, and hotel service standards.
• Jump in wherever needed to support the team and create an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

• Previous serving or barista experience.
• Knowledge of coffee preparation, brewing techniques, and beverage equipment is preferred.
• Previous experience with cash handling and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• A passion for food and beverage, excellent service, guest relations, and hospitality.
• The ability to learn and confidently communicate menu and beverage offerings.
• Flexibility to work a schedule that may include early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• The ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 20lbs as required by the position.
