Job summary

Porter Hospitality in Seattle is seeking a friendly Barista to prepare and serve high‑quality coffee beverages, educate guests about Onyx Coffee’s distinctive flavors and sustainable sourcing, and be the welcoming face of our café.

You will handle payments, stock the service area, maintain clean equipment, and support events as needed, with opportunities for higher pay when events arise. The role emphasizes hospitality, speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude in a busy, friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.
• 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service.
• CA Food Handler’s Permit required.
• Experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus.
• Previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.
• Receives and processes customer payments.
• Maintains cleanliness of service and seating areas and equipment.
• Stocks supplies and performs basic inventory tasks.
• Occasionally works events with potential higher hourly rate.
