Job summary

Nana Management Services, LLC seeks a Barista to operate specialty beverage outlets across the UAA campus, crafting espresso-based drinks, teas, and related offerings while delivering friendly customer service. You will handle cash using POS systems, follow food handling procedures, assist with stock levels, maintain clean work areas, and participate in occasional large cleaning projects.

Must be able to work open to close shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• Six (6) months barista experience.
• Six (6) months training or experience that includes professional food handling or food preparation responsibilities.
• Six (6) months of cashier experience.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Assists customers with general information, inquires, food and beverage order selection and recommendations, etc.
• Brews a wide variety of specialty coffees, teas, hot chocolate, using espresso machines, coffee urns and blended drinks etc.
• Properly, safely, and efficiently prepares various food products following and observing standard food handling procedures.
• Properly inputs sales into the POS systems.
• Counts cash drawers to prepare deposit.
• Keeps manager or lead informed of inventory stock levels in a timely manner.
• Follows corporate and/or unit cash handling policies and procedures.
• Observes any problems with the quality or quantity of food being served and takes appropriate steps to resolve issues.
• Continuously cleans and wipes work areas including, removing garbage, cleaning dishes, coffee machines, countertops etc.
• Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
• This position is not responsible for the supervision of staff.
• Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Preferred

• Observes extensive grooming, customer service, and uniform/dress standards.


• The ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision.


• An ability to quickly learn about the products being sold, cash register operation, site features and NMS's customer service expectations/standards.

Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear/see. Infrequently required to taste/smell, sit, crouch or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35lbs
