Stumptown Coffee in New York City is seeking energized Baristas to craft espresso beverages and deliver outstanding hospitality. You will engage customers, learn our coffees, and drive sales with knowledgeable conversations.

The role emphasizes maintaining cleanliness, operating the POS, and contributing to a positive team environment. Early mornings, nights, and weekend shifts are required, with a strong focus on consistency and quality.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee and a desire to educate others about our coffee.
• Ability to deliver exceptional hospitality in a personal and professional manner.
• Strong attention to detail and a healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation.
• Health department license or certification as required by state or local requirements.
• Great communication skills with employees and customers from diverse backgrounds.
• Open to feedback and continually looking to improve.
• Ability to multi-task with ease.
• Early AMs, nights, weekends, and reliability required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso beverages for customers, meeting Stumptown’s quality standards.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience; proactively engage with customers to understand and meet their needs.
• Develop a thorough understanding of our coffees, teas, foods, merchandise, and promotions to drive sales and service.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment for customers and coworkers in all areas of the store.
• Demonstrate openness to change and share ideas to improve the store.
• Taste coffee, tea, and specialty beverages regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards.
• Process transactions accurately in the POS system and reconcile till.
