Job summary

Sodexo at Austin Peay State University is seeking a Barista to deliver exceptional customer service while crafting hand-made beverages. You will greet guests, prepare drinks, and ensure a welcoming experience across the coffee bar.

Responsibilities include maintaining bar cleanliness, handling sales and cash, and educating guests on the menu. The role requires standing long hours and lifting up to 50 pounds; a high school diploma is expected.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation standards.
• Inventory control understanding may be needed.
• Starbucks barista certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service.
• Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blends, etc.
• Maintains good customer relations and speedy delivery of beverages and food items.
• Educate guests regarding menu offerings and suggestive selling.
• Arranges coffee bar supplies and displays attractively.
• Cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas.
• Records sales, handles cash, operates a cash register, and follows cash-handling procedures.
• Significant walking or mobility; stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds.
• Arrive on time and perform other duties as needed.

Pay Range: $14 per hour - $16 per hour

What You'll Do:

As a Barista at Sodexo, you will provide exceptional customer service while making hand-crafted, quality beverages.

Responsibilities include:

• Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service.
• Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications.
• Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items.
• Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling.
• Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays.
• Often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas.
• Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required.
• Significant walking or other means of mobility.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

What You Bring:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Customer Service related work experience.
• Must have knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems.
• Starbucks Baristas may be required to be certified.
