Broussard Brothers, Inc. is seeking a Barge Engineer to ensure safe, compliant operation of barge systems in Intracoastal City/Abbeville, LA. This role emphasizes routine maintenance, system inspections, and coordination with on-board and shore teams.

The ideal candidate will monitor hydraulic, pneumatic, water, fuel, and sewage systems, uphold safety standards, and document activities in CMMS. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficient in maintaining and repairing barge systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and safety mindset.
• Team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies for barge operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document in CMMS.
• Communicate equipment issues to crew and ensure safe operations.
• Verify safety equipment is functioning and maintained.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, and spare parts.
• Oversee marine operations and proper machinery operation.
• Inspect and repair engines, pumps, generators, valves, pipes, etc.
• Record consumption of fuel, water, oil, and compliance with env/maritime rules.
• Coordinate with captain, tugboat, or shore base on navigation and logistics.
• Participate in Stop Work Authority when necessary.
