Job summary

Render is building a modern cloud platform and seeks a Remote Infrastructure Engineer to lead the bare metal fleet automation from colocation sites to large-scale production workloads. You will design provisioning, discovery, and maintenance interfaces, work closely with network and Kubernetes teams, and own the reliability of hardware and firmware management.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with bare metal fleets, strong Linux knowledge, and scripting in Go or Python.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience automating bare metal fleets in datacenters or colo environments.
• Strong Linux knowledge and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with scripting in Go or Python to build resilient automation.
• Ability to debug and understand under-the-hood operations of management tools.

Responsibilities

• Take the first colocation site from empty cage to production workloads; scale across sites.
• Design server ingress from loading dock to production with netboot, imaging, BMC-driven discovery.
• Collaborate with network engineering on fleet needs from network to production connectivity.
• Build interfaces for the fleet team to request capacity, monitor health, and coordinate maintenance.
• Own the fleet's ground truth for hardware, software, and environmental data.
• Automate server lifecycle from burn-in to firmware rollout and RMA.
• Create production-grade automation with safe guardrails and site-resilient designs.
• Help shape the bare metal platform's direction and vendor/build decisions.
