Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command is seeking a barber to perform barbering services at a main branch or location haircare facility for authorized military and civilian personnel. Responsibilities include shampooing and cutting, shaping, shaving, neck/face/scalp massages, and ensuring sanitation.

A valid state license in barbering or cosmetology is required, with license transfer rules noted for out-of-state applicants.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of barber culture or cosmetology and possession of a valid State License in Barbering or Cosmetology.
• Candidates selected for hire who possess a U.S. State License in Cosmetology from a State other than the State the position is located must obtain a valid State License in Barbering or Cosmetology in the State the position is located within six months from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides barbering hair care services including shampooing, cutting, shaping, and various haircuts and styles to suit client needs.
• Massages neck, face and scalp.
• Maintains cleanliness of work station and sanitizes equipment.
• Operates cash register, processes sales, and maintains Daily Appointment Book; may open/close shop and assist with inventory.
• Carries out policy of courtesy and customer service and strives for 100% client satisfaction.
• Works under supervision, with independence within policies; quality is judged by service and client satisfaction.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
