Job summary

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 20 pounds, attending required trainings, obtaining Virginia Racing Commission licenses, and maintaining a valid driver’s license. Compensation is $12.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Casino or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Must be at least eighteen (21) years of age.
  • Must be able to stand for longer than 8 hours.
  • The ability to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Virginia Racing Commission License
  • Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and serve assigned beverage outlets and manage inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of beverage areas and equipment.
  • Complete paperwork including bar transfers and deliveries.
  • Set-up and breakdown of portable bars in designated areas.
  • Ensure use of correct freight elevators and delivery routes to hotel areas.
  • Organize beverage pump room areas and identify non-stock items.
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; escalate as needed.
  • Perform other duties to support department operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Along with exciting gaming action, The Rose Gaming Resort provides a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a space for meetings and events, 50,000+ square foot gaming space and over 1,650 Historical Horse Racing machines, and over 80 acres of green space. The Rose Gaming Resort generates an estimated $35.5 million in annual tax revenues and employs more than 500 team members.

JOB SUMMARY

The Bar Porter properly stocks and maintains the bar facility. Is responsible to provide a level of service which is gracious, kind, and warm that creates a sense of fondness that is Old-World Hospitality and delivers Excitement for the casino guests. The Bar Porter will assist the Bartender in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness according to the food service sanitation codes. Focus on departmental goals of - Consistency, Quality and Sense of Urgency. Performs additional job duties as assigned by Beverage Manager.

Compensation: $12.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Stock and serve assigned beverage outlets, maintain assigned levels of inventory, including delivery and stock of glassware, condiments, packaged beverages, paper products, and other necessary items.
  • Maintain cleanliness of beverage areas including all related assigned bar equipment, tools, supplies, trash removal, deep cleaning, sanitation, and work area, to include cleaning refrigerators, countertops, and mopping floors.
  • Complete required paperwork including bar transfers and dry stock deliveries Maintain pars of liquor, beer, and supplies in cooler and dry storage area, order as needed.
  • Responsible for set-up and breakdown of portable bars in designated areas
  • Ensure use of correct freight elevators and delivery routes to designated hotel areas and beverage outlets
  • Organize and maintain beverage pump room areas, including pump room products, storage rooms, and warehouses, and identify non-stock items and alert management as necessary.
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, each Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
