Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, CA is seeking a Bar Supervisor to lead the bar team, coach staff, and ensure exceptional member service. This role operates with a hands-on, professional approach to beverage quality and guest experience, while maintaining club standards and inventory controls.

The position is open for full-time or part-time seasonal work from October 2026 through May 2027, with duties spanning shifts, training, and coordination across F&B operations to deliver flawless service.

Qualifications

  • Previous bartender or lead supervisor experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team training ability.
  • Current Riverside County Food Handler Card required.
  • Current Riverside County Alcohol Serving Card required.
  • Food Safety Management Certification.
  • Competency with POS systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team training skills.

Job description

The Bar Supervisor is a hands‑on leader responsible for overseeing daily bar operations, delivering exceptional member service, and ensuring consistent execution of Madison Club service standards. This role leads and coaches the bar team during service, maintains beverage quality and operational excellence, manages inventory and cleanliness standards, resolves member concerns, and supports all Food & Beverage operations while fostering a warm, professional, and member‑focused experience.

The Madison Club is open during the winter & spring season, and this role will be full time or part time, seasonal need from October 2026 - May 2027.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works the bar as a section and sets the example of service standards for the Madison Club.
  • Serves as the on‑shift leader of the bar team, ensuring the bar and related service operations are running smoothly, efficiently, and in line with Madison Club service standards.
  • Prepare and mix drinks according to prescribed recipes, ensuring proper portions and ingredients for wine, liquor, and related bar service to members; ensure consistency.
  • Acknowledge and personally serve members with a professional and welcoming demeanor, make eye contact and warm smile always.
  • Maintain full knowledge of operating procedures, service standards, Madison club and DLC information; ensure the team holds the same standard of excellence.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all items on the menu, off the menu, and daily specials; train and coach the team to do the same.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, monthly inventory counts, organizing, maintaining accurate par levels.
  • Monitor expiration dates of perishable items and enforce garnish, juice, and bar ingredient rotation across the bar.
  • Ensure proper labeling of all products.
  • Lead team training on drink recipes, pour standards, POS accuracy, and service standards.
  • Be able to answer all questions about food and beverage, off menu items, club history, and service standards; ensure the floor team can do the same.
  • Maintain bar appearance, organization, and cleanliness throughout the day; hold the team accountable for the same.
  • Assign and supervise sections, bar stations, and service areas before, during, and after shifts; coordinate staffing and coverage during peak periods.
  • Ensure efficient and consistent pacing of beverages throughout service.
  • Possess a keen sense of timing to discreetly speed up or slow down service.
  • Communicate special needs (allergies, dietary restrictions, member details) to kitchen, management, and appropriate staff members; ensure the team communicates the same consistently.
  • Prepare and serve beverages, including wine and alcohol, as needed.
  • Verify accuracy of food orders before delivery.
  • Audit member checks for accuracy before closing across the floor team, not only individually but audits all checks at the end of every service.
  • Assign and follow posted side work; assist in all F&B areas as needed.
  • Greet members, recognize members and families.
  • Delivery of food and beverages across all club areas as needed (pool, locker rooms, golf course, residential, clubhouse).
  • Address member complaints or issues immediately and professionally; serve as a point of escalation for the floor team before involving management.
  • Provide a warm farewell upon departure.
  • Oversee opening, mid, and closing duties for the bar team; verify completion of all side work and operational checklists.
  • Verify accurate input of all food & beverage orders into the POS system.
  • Always Maintain a professional appearance and uniform standards; ensure team compliance.
  • Treat members, guests, and coworkers with courtesy, respect, and discretion.
  • Support a safe working environment and follow emergency response procedures.
  • Assist all F&B areas when operationally needed (pool, locker room, golf course, residential, clubhouse).
  • Attend all required meetings and training; provide feedback and operational insights to management.
  • Respond promptly to member and management requests.
  • Uphold Madison Club service standards at all times across the floor team.
  • Follow all club policies, SOPs, and leadership direction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous bartender or lead supervisor experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team training ability.
  • Current Riverside County Food Handler Card Required.
  • Current Riverside County Alcohol Serving Card Required.
  • Food Safety Management Certification.
  • Competency with POS systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team training skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $32.00 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
