Job summary

Swissôtel Chicago is seeking a friendly Banquet House Person to set up and break down banquet events, ensuring guest spaces align with BEOs. You will work behind the scenes to support luxury function service and help our events run smoothly.

You must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work a variety of shifts including holidays, weekends, mornings and evenings. Great communication and teamwork are essential to deliver memorable experiences.

Responsibilities

• Set up and breakdown banquet functions according to policy.
• Ensure setups match the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
• Check BEO to determine function and guest count.
• Return equipment to proper areas after events.
• Follow room setup instructions and address discrepancies with supervisor.
• Ensure proper table setup, cloths, and skirted tables as needed.
• Report any room deficiencies, lighting or equipment issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As a Banquet House person, you will be responsible for setting the stage to make memorable moments for our guests. Your work behind the scenes will play a large role in the success of all of our Banquet functions as you execute extraordinary events and grow your career with a luxury hotel brand. Come as you are!

• Set-Up and breakdown banquet functions according to Swissôtel standard policies and procedures
• To ensure that all Banquet functions are set up accordingly to the Banquet Event Order (BEO)
• Check BEO’s to determine function, number of guests and type of event
• Breakdown and clean event rooms thoroughly. Return all equipment and supplies to the proper areas
• Obtain copy of BEO and follow setup instructions
• Read BEO thoroughly to determine room set and requirements, and any special needs
• Check the room for proper table set up and alignment
• Report to supervisor any room deficiencies, lights or equipment
• Set room according to contract, any questions, or discrepancies directed to your supervisor
• Cloth and skirt tables needed for buffet set up, if applicable
• Any other job tasks that may be assigned

Physical aspects of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
• Ability to perform physical labor for 8 hours at one time

Qualifications

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS INCLUDE:

• Creative and passionate about customer service
• Able to work in a high-pressure environment
• Must be able to work any shift assigned, such as holidays, weekends, mornings, afternoons and evenings.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Food and Beverage
