Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Banquets Server (On Call) to support event setup, service, and breakdown for banquet functions. You will anticipate guest needs, deliver courteous service, and maintain spotless event spaces from setup through teardown.

Candidates should have prior serving experience, strong English communication, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Overnight and holiday shifts may be required in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and understand guests’ service needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns.
  • Greet, welcome and acknowledge all guests by name; respond to requests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Set up and break down banquet spaces; maintain cleanliness and organization of the event area.
  • Stock linen, china, silverware, and supplies; ensure all banquet spaces are well-presented.
  • Input real-time work orders via KYC for guest concerns during interaction.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize performance and drive value by improving processes.

MAIN DUTIES:

The Banquets Server- On Callis responsible forcompletion oof all tasks related to set up, service, andbreak downof all Banquet events.TheBanquet Serveris primarilyresponsible butnot limitedtofulfilling allguest’sservice needs according to 1 Hotel standards.

GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Anticipate and understand guests’ service needs,ascertainsatisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.

  • Greet, welcome and acknowledge all guests by name and respond to their requests in a courteous and professional mannerusing professional language at all times. Remain attentive to the needs of all guests, providing them with dependable,punctualand enthusiastic service.Provide courteous,friendlyand efficient service to all internal and external guests.Thank guestswith genuineappreciation.

  • Consistentlyconduct oneself in a professional manner at all timesand work professionally with colleagues and team leaders with ateam mindedapproach.

  • Attend pre-shift meetings before events tolearnevent details, including property and guest expectations.

  • Attend andparticipatein all required meetings.

  • Collect and transport all supplies needed for the set-up of an event including, but not limited tochina, glass, silver, linen, tables, chairs,decorand props, etc.

  • Set-up, breakdown of tables, chairs, buffets,linenand props as specified by the Banquet Event Order.

  • Respond to and fulfill any special event arrangements.

  • Stock linen,china, silver and glassware and supplies for service ensuring good condition.

  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of all banquet function space, including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, window washing, polishing, mopping, etc.

  • Retrieve and track event materials, décor, props,cratesand boxes from delivery or drop off area and store them safely and securely.Retrieve these items from storage area when needed.

  • Work professionally with colleagues and supervisors.

  • Maintain all event equipment, chairs, tables, podiums, etc.

  • Maintain all event linen.

  • Monitor andmaintaincleanliness,sanitationand organization of assigned station, back of house, storage and service areas practicing “clean as you go” while avoiding breaking and reporting all breakage incidents.Break down and remove any boxes and packaging used to unpack supplies and equipment related to banquet events.Return any service carts used to transport supplies and equipment toproperlocation.

  • Perform post event cleaning tasks and breakdown of service.Ensure all tables and chairs aresetand the event room is clean and neat, returning all food and beverage items, and supplies to the proper area, prior to checking out with the leader on duty and finishing the shift anddeparting.

  • Assistwith room turns to complete the set up for events including tables, chairs, etc.

  • Maintainhigh standardsof presentation, service, event supply quality,safetyand cleanliness.

  • Input real-time work orders viaKYCon any guest concerns during interaction. Convey with clarity inKYCany and allguest opportunities.

  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the leadership team.

  • Identifyopportunities tooptimizeperformance and create value by challenging existingprocesses;encouraging innovation and driving necessary change.

  • Establish andmaintainopen, positive, collaborative, and professional internal and external relationships.Develop lasting relationships with guestsand tosecure repeat business.Foster and promote a cooperative working environment, maximizing efficiency and delivering the ultimate guest experience.

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications;properly storeflammable materials.

  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues.

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
