Job summary

Oklahoma State Fair, Inc. in Oklahoma City is seeking a part-time hourly Catering Assistant in Impact Catering for events.

You will serve meals, pour drinks, verify ages, help with banquet setups, and maintain safety and cleanliness. The role requires a high school diploma and may require a liquor license; on-site work with occasional long hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid liquor license/alcohol service permit and/or food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
• One year of outside catering experience preferred.
• Fine dining and/or banquet experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to guests or direct guests to buffet lines at catering functions.
• Serve alcoholic drinks following standard recipes and policies and procedures.
• Check guest IDs to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
• Recognize guests that are visibly intoxicated and take action to cut off alcohol service to such individuals.
• Observe guests and respond promptly to any additional requests and determine when the meal has been completed.
• Refill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiments and napkins.
• Place/replace tableware and linens as necessary.
• Assist in setting up banquet functions including linens, dishes, glassware and silverware to company standards.
• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas by utilizing proper sanitation and safety procedures and techniques.
• Assist other food and beverage departments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Extended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.
• Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
• Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 25 lbs. unassisted and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.
• Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.
