Job summary

Legends Global in Anchorage is seeking a part-time banquet server to deliver professional catering service for events at the Anchorage Convention Centers. You will work in a fast-paced environment ensuring guest satisfaction and smooth event flow.

The role requires six months of service experience, a current TAPS card, and strong teamwork and guest service skills. You must be able to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for long periods, and work weekends or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• TAPS card with Anchorage Municipality or willingness to obtain
• Minimum 6 months' work experience in a service environment
• Knowledge of catering services and guest terminology
• Strong guest service skills and ability to follow instructions

Responsibilities

• Report to work in proper uniform at scheduled time.
• Follow event instructions from Food & Beverage Manager/Banquet Captain.
• Assist with collecting banquet equipment (flatware, china, glassware).
• Prepare garnishes, beverages, condiments, and breads.
• Assist with cleaning and refilling salt/pepper, sugar dishes, creamers.
• Set up event room as needed and prepare tables.
• Attend pre-function meeting to brief event details.
• Provide friendly, courteous customer service at all times.
• Stay at assigned station and perform duties per event.
• Report customer concerns to Banquet Captain.
• Break down tables and equipment after events.
• Return serving pieces to storage; uphold grooming standards.
• Follow service standards and other guidelines.

THE ROLE

This is a hands-on position, providing the highest degree of professional catering service to guests with the goal of achieving customer satisfaction and retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reports for work in proper uniform according to the scheduled time.
• Follows instructions for each event as given by the Food & Beverage Manager and/or Banquet Captain.
• Assists with collecting all banquet equipment to include flatware, china, glassware, and serving pieces needed for each event.
• Assists with preparing garnishes, beverages, condiments, and breads.
• Assists with cleaning and filling salt and pepper containers, sugar dishes, creamers, etc.
• Assists with preparation and set-up of event room when necessary.
• Prepares tables with place settings as instructed by the Food & Beverage Manager and/or Banquet Captain.
• Attends pre-function meeting for briefing of event details.
• Provides friendly and courteous customer service at all times.
• Remains at assigned station and perform duties as assigned according to each event.
• Reports any customer concerns and/or complaints to Banquet Captain.
• Breaks down tables and banquet equipment after each event.
• Cleans and returns serving pieces to proper storage area.
• Adheres to strict grooming standards and policies of company.
• Follows service standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Location: On Site at the Anchorage Convention Centers

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Work hours may range from very early morning to late night. Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work may be required. Work will be performed in many different areas of the Anchorage Convention Centers, as well as off-premises, including the Alaska Railroad. Work will involve a considerable amount of walking, lifting, and other high-exertion activities. Must be able to frequently lift at least 30 lbs. and can carry a service oval tray with up to (8) eight loaded entrée plates/covers throughout the course of an entire event. Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment. Flexibility is required, as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand. Duties require the use of considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving, and working under minimal direction. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Other duties may be assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
