Job summary

Valor Hospitality is seeking a Banquet Server to ensure exceptional guest experiences during dining and meetings at our properties. You will interact with guests in a friendly, efficient manner, anticipate needs, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere throughout service.

You will be responsible for understanding BEOs, assisting in setup and breakdown, and delivering food and beverages in line with our standards. Strong English, physical stamina, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High school education or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Six months hotel or convention center banquet food/beverage services environment.
• Skills: Able to read, speak and understand English; able to lift 20–40 lbs; stand for long periods; communicate information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Check server’s and house person’s BEOs to ensure information is accurate.
• Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) at the beginning of each shift to ensure room is set as contracted.
• Know the menu for each function served and explain major ingredients and preparation methods.
• Be in communication with Banquet Captain/Lead Server for any special needs.
• Set tables, glassware, flatware and silverware per dining rules and specifications.
• Greet and serve guests following service guidelines.
• Keep station neat and clean while servicing guests.
• Deliver items, fulfill guests’ needs, remove courses, replenish utensils, refill glasses.
• Assist in setting up/breaking down buffet or other specials.
• Follow all guest check/money-handling procedures for a-la-carte and beverage orders.
• Complete assigned side work.

POSITION PROFILE

Interact with guests and ensure guests have a great experience when dining and meeting at the property. Be responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Expected to be attentive to guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed, at all times.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

• Check server’s and house person’s BEOs to ensure that all information is accurate.
• Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) at the beginning of each shift to ensure room is set as contracted.
• Know the menu for each function served and be able to explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be provided.
• Be in communication with the Banquet Captain/ Lead Server in regard to any special needs.
• Set tables, glassware, flatware and silver ware per dining rules and specification.
• Greet and serve guests following guidelines set by the policies/procedures regarding the service of food and beverage.
• Keep station neat and clean while servicing guest per established policies and procedures.
• Maintain a proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling guest’s needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
• Use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray break-down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
• Assist Lead Banquet Server in setting up/breaking down buffet or other special food service tables, stations, and equipment.
• Follow all guest check and money-handling procedures when serving a-la-carte and beverage orders.
• Complete assigned side work.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High school education or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Six months hotel or convention center -banquet food/beverage services environment.
• Skills and Abilities: Able to read, speak and understand English. Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs. Stand continuously for long periods of time. Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
