Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Banquet Server to provide food and beverage services for events at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. You will support a range of service styles from casual buffets to formal plated meals and ensure a positive guest experience.

This on-call part-time role reports to the Banquet Captain/Supervisor; shifts vary. You must have a High School diploma, alcohol-service certification, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Sodexo offers benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol.
• Must maintain valid alcohol-service certification (TIPS or equivalent).
• A food handler certification may also be required based on state or local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide food and beverage services to guests at catered events.
• Support service styles from casual buffets to formal plated meals.
• Assist with event setup, service execution, and breakdown under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and work areas.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work with shifting schedules.

Pay Range: $13.78 - $18.61

What You'll Do:

As a Banquet Server at Sodexo, you will provide food and beverage services to guests attending catered events, including meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. This role supports a variety of service styles ranging from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed service. Banquet Servers play a key role in delivering a positive guest experience by providing attentive, professional, and timely service during events.

Banquet Servers work under the direction of the Banquet Captain and Banquet Supervisor and actively participate in event setup, service execution, and breakdown. Responsibilities may vary based on event size, service style, and business needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and work areas during events.
• Clear tables, reset place settings, and assist with maintaining presentation standards.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

What You Bring:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations.
• Must maintain a valid TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures, TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management), or equivalent alcohol-service certification, and comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements.
• A food handler certification may also be required based on state or local regulations.
