Job summary

Westwood Country Club in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Banquet Captain to lead on-site events, coordinate setup, service, staffing, guest experience, and event closeout while adhering to club procedures and management direction.

This hands-on, hourly role directs banquet servers, bartenders, and temporary staff and collaborates with Culinary, Dining, Beverage, and Events teams to ensure accurate execution and superior guest service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of banquet, catering, restaurant, hotel, private club, or high-volume hospitality experience preferred.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Current Food Handler and TABC certifications are required and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate execution of events from setup through breakdown following BEOs and service standards.
• Serve as on-site event lead, coordinating staff activities and addressing issues.
• Read and follow BEOs, floor plans, timelines and run-of-show documents.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and assign staff according to event requirements.
• Communicate event details and dietary restrictions to staff and management.
• Provide guidance and coaching to banquet servers, bartenders, and temp staff.
• Maintain professional standards and club policies throughout events.
• Collaborate with Culinary, Beverage, Events, Dining, and Facilities teams for seamless service.
