Responsibilities

  • Prepare and finalize bankruptcy petitions, motions, notices, and schedules.
  • File documents electronically in federal courts using CM/ECF.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, hearings, and court deadlines.
  • Coordinate service of pleadings and notices; manage service lists.
  • Monitor PACER dockets and communicate case developments.
  • Assist with Chapter 11 case administration and discovery support.
  • Coordinate with courts, trustees, and outside counsel.
  • Assist with hearings, depositions, and trial preparation; provide onsite or remote support.

Job description

Raines Feldman Littrell LLP is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to provide high-level administrative and case support to attorneys in a fast-paced bankruptcy and restructuring practice. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of bankruptcy experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and court deadlines while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Bankruptcy and Restructuring Support
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize bankruptcy petitions, motions, notices, objections, applications, declarations, proofs of claim, schedules, statements, plans, disclosure statements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • File documents electronically in federal bankruptcy courts using CM/ECF and ensure compliance with applicable federal and local bankruptcy rules and procedures.
  • Maintain attorney and case calendars, including hearings, Section 341 meetings, claims bar dates, objection deadlines, discovery deadlines, plan and confirmation dates, and client meetings.
  • Coordinate filing and service of pleadings, maintain service lists and creditor matrices, and prepare notices and certificates of service.
  • Monitor bankruptcy dockets through PACER and CM/ECF, review notices and orders, and promptly communicate case developments and upcoming deadlines to the legal team.
  • Assist with Chapter 11 case administration, including organizing case materials, preparing hearing and confirmation binders, and supporting discovery and document productions.
  • Coordinate with bankruptcy courts, the Office of the United States Trustee, trustees, claims and noticing agents, court reporters, vendors, local counsel, and outside counsel.
  • Assist with hearings, depositions, mediations, plan confirmation, and other case-related proceedings, including preparation of electronic and hard-copy materials.
Administrative Support
  • Manage attorney calendars, travel arrangements, and expense reimbursements.
  • Screen calls, schedule meetings, and coordinate conference rooms and Zoom meetings.
  • Open new matters and assist with conflicts, engagement letters, and case-opening procedures as requested.
  • Prepare client correspondence and maintain organized electronic and physical bankruptcy case files.
  • Enter attorney time and assist with monthly billing and expense review.
  • Process client costs and reimbursements.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, trustees, the Office of the United States Trustee, creditors, opposing counsel, and firm personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with paralegals, docketing, billing, and administrative staff.
  • Assist with hearing, confirmation, and trial preparation and provide onsite or remote support as needed.
  • Support additional attorneys or special projects during periods of increased workload.
Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of bankruptcy legal assistant experience in a law firm, preferably supporting Chapter 11 matters.
  • Strong knowledge of bankruptcy rules, court filing requirements, CM/ECF procedures, PACER, and case deadlines.
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Technical Skills
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Document management systems (iManage or similar)
  • CM/ECF, PACER, and claims and noticing platforms (Epiq, Kroll, Stretto, or similar).
  • Time entry and billing software (ProLaw or similar)
  • Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Salary Range: The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
