Summary/Objectives:

The Banking Associate is a developmental position designed to provide individuals interested in exploring or building a career in banking with practical, hands-on experience in the financial services industry. Through exposure to various areas of the Bank, the Banking Associate will gain an understanding of banking operations, customer service, lending, financial concepts, regulatory requirements, and other key functions while completing meaningful assignments and projects. The position provides opportunities to work with and learn from experienced banking professionals, develop professional and technical skills, and gain a well-rounded understanding of the Bank and financial services industry while building a foundation for potential future career opportunities.

Essential functions:
  • Participate in a structured learning and development experience across various areas of the Bank to gain practical knowledge of banking operations, products, services, lending, financial concepts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist managers, supervisors, and employees with departmental assignments, projects, research, reporting, and other activities that provide meaningful exposure to Bank operations and business functions.
  • Learn and assist with various operational functions and processes, including customer service, account and transaction processing, lending support, financial analysis, regulatory reporting, and other assigned banking activities.
  • Provide professional and responsive service to customers and Bank employees by assisting with inquiries, communicating effectively, and directing customers to appropriate products, services, or Bank personnel.
  • Develop an understanding of the Bank’s products and services and assist in identifying opportunities to educate customers and connect them with appropriate Bank resources.
  • Work collaboratively with employees and leaders throughout the organization to gain exposure to different departments, responsibilities, career paths, and areas of the banking industry.
  • Participate in training, mentoring, job shadowing, meetings, and other professional development opportunities designed to build banking knowledge and workplace skills.
  • Develop professional competencies in communication, customer service, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, financial concepts, and business operations through practical assignments and feedback.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives that support departmental and Bank-wide objectives while developing research, analytical, organizational, and project-management skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and appropriately safeguard confidential customer, employee, and Bank information.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable laws and regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements.
  • Participate in customer, community, and Bank activities as appropriate to gain an understanding of the Bank’s role within the communities it serves.
  • Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, professionalism, and a willingness to learn by seeking feedback, asking questions, and taking responsibility for assigned work.
  • Actively participate in customer, community, and public relations activities to increase the bank’s visibility and enhance new business opportunities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current students, recent graduates, individuals pursuing additional education or training, career changers, and other applicants interested in gaining practical experience and exploring career opportunities in banking or financial services are encouraged to apply.
  • Post-secondary education or coursework in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, agriculture, communications, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
  • Previous banking or financial services experience is not required.
  • Previous customer service, administrative, retail, professional, volunteer, or other experience that demonstrates dependability, communication skills, initiative, teamwork, or responsibility is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning about banking, financial services, business operations, and professional development.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new concepts, accept feedback, take initiative, and complete assigned projects and responsibilities.
  • An equivalent combination of education, work experience, volunteer experience, training, and demonstrated interest in the banking industry may be considered.
Supervisory:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities and may serve as a mentor for other positions in the organization.
