Job summary

Hollingsworth & Vose in Hawkinsville, GA is seeking a Material Handler to operate and maintain balers, label applicators, and stretch-wrapping equipment on Line 5 in Glass Fiber Operations. You will ensure supply of materials and proper labeling for customer orders.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain balers, label applicators and stretch wrapping equipment for Line 5 Glass Fiber Operations.
• Ensure baling system has a constant supply of all packaging materials (bale packaging, stretch wrap, slip sheets).
• Keep labels for bales and units properly supplied to applicators.
• Transport finished goods to proper storage locations and ensure proper labeling per customer requirements.
• Communicate maintenance needs to other Balers and notify crew leader of upset conditions.
• Participate in line down day maintenance and assist on the spinner deck; may train less experienced Material Handler employees.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Always works in a safe and efficient manner.
• Always strives to maintain excellent housekeeping in their work areas.
• Ensures that balers, wrappers and applicators are performing as intended.
• Ensures that baling system has a constant supply of all packaging materials (bale packaging, stretch wrap, slip sheets, etc.).
• Keeps labels for bales and units properly supplied to applicators.
• Transports finished goods to proper storage locations.
• Ensures that all finished goods are packaged and labeled per customer requirements.
• Corrects any issues with bale and finished goods packaging and labeling.
• Communicates any items with other Balers that need maintenance attention.
• Notifies crew leader of any upset conditions to the set points and operating conditions of the balers as needed.
• Assists on the spinner deck with handling of excess cullet production.
• Participates in line down day maintenance and miscellaneous cleanup tasks.
• May train less experienced Material Handler 1 employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred and/or prior training on baler.
• Operating and monitoring machinery.
• Knowledge of glass fiber making process.
• Ability to establish good working relationships.
• Computer knowledge.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Lean Manufacturing Concepts preferable.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS & ENVIRONMENT:

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Pay Transparency Range: $14.75 - $16.25 USD Annually/Hourly
