This role provides direction related to operations, processes, and conditions of their area. It involves planning, guiding, and empowering team members in the day-to-day operation of the department. The role models exceptional customer experience and helps achieve department goals by influencing peers to create a continued winning strategy.

What you'll be doing:

  • Engaging peers to provide the best possible shopping experience for our customers, including an exceptional checkout experience.
  • Communicating with team members and assigning daily work tasks.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, ensuring the area meets Meijer standards and training requirements.
  • Supporting training for new team members and cross-training high-potential talent, providing peer coaching to boost productivity.
  • Collaborating with leadership on department scheduling to enhance team engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability.
  • Monitoring product freshness through rotation and dating policies.
  • Guiding the team to comply with food safety standards and regulations, working safely and with accountability.
  • Leading ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display activities, where applicable.
  • Creating an environment that supports Meijer's culture, including valuing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Operating registers and handling cash when needed.
  • Operating powered equipment, where applicable.
  • Participating in period-end inventories to help meet goals.
  • Potentially acting in Lead capacity in other departments as required.
