- Current food handler's permit upon employment
Preferred qualifications:
- Bakery/Cake Decorating experience
- Retail experience
Responsibilities include:
- Gaining and maintaining knowledge of products sold within the department and responding to customer questions with suggestions.
- Preparing bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offering samples to help customers discover new products.
- Providing customers with fresh, correctly portioned products to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommending bakery items to meet customer needs.
- Using bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines.
- Preparing foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes.
- Properly packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients.
- Checking product quality and freshness, reviewing sell-by dates.
- Maintaining cases full and fresh according to standards.
- Participating in sales development in the cake and pastry area.
- Responding to customer or colleague questions about cake decorating and orders.
- Communicating needs for the cake area to the Bakery Manager.
- Tracking inventory related to cakes and pastries, including supplies and special order items.
- Ensuring cake kits are stocked and updated.
- Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping.
- Understanding store layout to locate products for customers.
- Staying current with advertisements and promotions.
- Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions, reporting issues.
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and maintaining temperature logs.
- Following safety procedures, inspecting equipment, and reporting hazards.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents, safety risks, or illegal activities.
- Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
