Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products they ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
13. Understand the store layout to locate products for customers.
14. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
15. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
18. Promote trust and respect among associates.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making them feel appreciated.
20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
22. Inspect equipment regularly, and report repairs needed.
23. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
24. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
25. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance when resolving issues.
28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Bakery or Deli experience is helpful
