A leading grocery store chain in Louisville, Kentucky, is looking for a Bakery Team Member (Service Counter) to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a clean environment. Job Description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Responsibilities
  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that match the order and correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get the products they want.
  • Use all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell‑by dates and take appropriate action.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products when requested by customer.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions by making suggestions.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept up to date.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated when answering questions about products.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, then notifying store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
