Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a friendly Bakery Clerk to join our store team. You will greet customers, help them find items, handle orders, and ensure the bakery remains clean and well-stocked throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include assisting in daily baking tasks, monitoring freshness, operating POS, and maintaining sanitation standards in a fast-paced bakery environment. Some experience in customer-facing roles is preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills for quick counting.
• High school diploma not required; up to six months experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and make them feel welcome in the bakery.
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking.
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department.
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
