Job summary

El Super in Reno is hiring a Bakery Clerk to join the Store Operations Team. Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, you will provide friendly service, assist customers with bakery purchases, and help rotate and display bakery items in a fast-paced setting.

You should be able to read and write simple notes, communicate with customers, and lift up to 60 pounds as needed. Basic PC/Outlook skills are helpful in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, and pricing codes.
• Write simple correspondence and communicate with customers and coworkers.
• Follow detailed but straightforward instructions with common sense.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery. The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases, and clean, fill, and rotate the self‑serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders and will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness. The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.

Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.
