Job summary

El Super is seeking a Bakery Clerk for the Oxnard location to provide friendly and efficient customer service in the bakery department. You will assist with bakery purchases, take special orders, and help maintain clean, well-stocked displays in coordination with the bakery team.

The role requires lifting up to 60 pounds intermittently, a Food Handler Card, and basic PC/Outlook skills. Opportunities for additional responsibilities and growth are available within a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
• Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is required for all positions related to the preparation, handling, and serving of food.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service to customers in the bakery department.
• Assist customers with bakery purchases and take special orders.
• Clean shelving and display cases, and fill, rotate, and maintain self-serve displays in the front and adjacent to the bakery.
• Work with the Baker to determine which items require baking or decoration.
• Participate in department cleaning activities, including hosing down floors with soap and water.
• Perform other related duties as needed and under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager.
