Job summary

Fiesta Mart is seeking a Bakery Clerk at Store 025 in Austin, TX. Under Bakery Manager supervision, you will help customers, keep displays clean, and assist with special orders and decorating items. The role requires lifting as part of daily tasks in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The position emphasizes friendly, courteous service to diverse communities and adherence to safety and food-handling standards. Training provided on the job.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English; interact with the public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and coworkers.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, occasionally up to 60 pounds.
• Basic PC/Outlook skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in the Bakery department and assist with purchases.
• Clean shelves and display cases; rotate and stock items.
• Take special orders and coordinate with the Baker on items to bake or decorate.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the self serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to: preparation, handling and serving food.
