In this role, you'll prepare and replenish products, assist customers at the bakery counter, and help create the kind of warm, welcoming experience that keeps people coming back.If you enjoy working with your hands, take pride in a job well done, and love being part of a team that makes customers' days a little sweeter, this could be a great fit for you.**What You'll Do**No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:* Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery* Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter* Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift* Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking* Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times* Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed* Operate the department register to process payments where applicable* Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department* Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer* Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies* Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed* You'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home, and Bakery Department Manager**Your Skills**You don't need prior experience for this role! You may encounter exposure to flour dust, noise, temperature extremes, and damp conditions, all pretty standard for a bakery setting. The role also involves working with and around standard bakery equipment and may include exposure to electrical equipment and cleaning products or solvents.
