Responsibilities

• A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while encouraging other associates to do the same.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards.
• Demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion size.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality for freshness and review sell‑by dates.
• Properly use kitchen equipment, e.g., stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products requested by customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold and provide suggestions.
• Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure temperature logs are maintained and temperatures in cases/coolers are proper.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Perform preventive maintenance of equipment and report issues.
• Notify management of employee or customer accidents.
• Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
