Job summary

El Rio Grande Latin Market in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking an experienced Baker/Pastry Assistant to join our kitchen team. You will open the bakery, weigh ingredients, prepare dough, and bake a variety of Hispanic breads and pastries.

Description

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

• Open the bakery early in the morning
• Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
• Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
• Prepare, produce and bake a variety of Hispanic breads and pastries (must have recipe experience).
• Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
• Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)
• Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
• Other duties common to the Bakery department may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
• Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
• Must be 18 years of age
• Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
• Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Understanding of food safety practices
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
• Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
