Job description

Join Our Team as an Experienced Baker at The Blue Loon!

The Blue Loon, a bakery café in New London, NH, is looking for an experienced, full-time Baker to join our team. This position offers 32–40 hours per week.

This position requires weekend availability and the flexibility to work early-morning and/or overnight shifts as our production schedule evolves.

Please note that we are an artisan bakery café specializing in breads, pastries, cookies, muffins, scones, and other scratch-made baked goods—we do not produce custom cakes or cake decorating.

If you take pride in your craft, enjoy working efficiently without sacrificing quality, and want to be part of a team that values exceptional baking, we'd love to meet you.

Your Responsibilities

As a Baker at The Blue Loon, you'll play an essential role in producing the fresh breads, pastries, and baked goods our customers enjoy every day. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and baking a variety of artisan breads, pastries, cookies, muffins, bars, and other scratch-made baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Scaling, mixing, shaping, baking, and finishing products with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Reading and accurately following recipes while using baker's percentages, weights, and production schedules.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment.
  • Monitoring ingredient and supply levels and communicating inventory needs.
  • Working efficiently to meet production goals without compromising quality.
  • Collaborating with the bakery and café teams to ensure products are ready for service.
  • Pitching in wherever needed to support the team and contribute to a successful day.
What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working in a production kitchen; professional bakery experience is preferred, but strong culinary experience will also be considered.
  • The ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
  • Experience using a digital scale and working with weighed ingredients.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member.
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • A calm, positive attitude under pressure.
  • A willingness to accept feedback, learn from mistakes, and continuously improve.
  • A genuine interest in baking and developing your skills.
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain one).
Why Join The Blue Loon?

At The Blue Loon, we're passionate about making exceptional breads and baked goods from scratch every day. We're a collaborative team that values quality, craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous learning. Every loaf, pastry, and cookie reflects the pride we take in our work, and every team member contributes to that success.

Whether you're an experienced artisan baker or an experienced production cook looking to transition into artisan baking, you'll have the opportunity to refine your skills, contribute to a collaborative team, and produce exceptional scratch-made baked goods every day.

Competitive hourly wage plus participation in our shared tip pool (typically an additional $3–$5 per hour). Full-time team members are also eligible for benefits.
