Job Summary

Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast and courteous customer checkout. This individual effectively packages customer purchases and expedites the flow of groceries from checkout lane to customer’s vehicle.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at checkout.


• Packs 40% of customer purchases to prevent damage, carries or pushes groceries to the customer’s car, and loads groceries into the vehicle.


• Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed.


• Returns discarded or returned merchandise and restocks supplies efficiently, eliminating waste and maintaining the lowest supply cost.


• Cleans spills, collects and picks up trash inside the store and parking lot.


• Cleans all areas inside and outside the store; performs basic shelf conditioning.


• Collects shopping carts from the parking lot and other areas and returns them to the designated area.


• Ensures company safety, food‑handling, sanitation and productivity standards are maintained; complies with USDA, COOL, DOA regulations; executes product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner.


• Assesses and reports unsafe conditions or incidents to store management.


• Ensures all associates work safely and receive necessary safety trainings, PPE is available and used, equipment is in good repair, and remediation of hazards is reported and assisted with.


• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School / GED diploma.


• English proficiency; English and Spanish preferred.


• 0 – 3 years supervisory experience minimum.

• Basic computer skills required to participate in online training.


• Compliance with all company policies and procedures.


• High standard of integrity and reliability.


• Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain the same.


• Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check.

Environmental Factors

Retail – general. Medium physical demands: must regularly stand or walk on various flooring, use manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell, perform repetitive movements with both hands/feet, reach at waist level or overhead, carry, push, lift up to the weights listed. Occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb up to 10 ft.

Working Conditions: May include indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, wet/humid conditions. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, sharp objects, noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes, sprays.

Equipment required: cleaning supplies, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material handling equipment (racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts). Personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves, back brace. Lifting requirement: 30 lbs. Pulling requirement: 250 lbs.
