Overview

Job Summary: Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast and courteous customer checkout. This individual effectively packages customer purchases and expedites the flow of groceries from checkout lane to customer’s vehicle.

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsibility: Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout. Packs 40% of customer purchases in a manner to prevent damages, carry or push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer’s car and load groceries into the vehicle. Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed.
• 40% Time: Returns discarded or returned merchandise. Restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Cleans spills, collects and picks up trash inside store and parking lot.
• 30% Time: Cleans all areas inside and outside of store. Performs basic shelf conditioning.
• 20% Time: Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and returns them to the designated area.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to regulatory requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA. Executes recalls, reinforces safety programs, inspects unsafe conditions, and reports incidents. Notifies management of accidents. Reports safety risks, illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud. Ensures wage-and-hour compliance, promotes a culture of safety, and provides safety training. Ensures hazardous assessments are posted and PPE is available and used. Ensures equipment is in good repair and assists with remediation of safety hazards.

Overall, PPE and safety equipment may be required.
