Overall Responsibility: The Baggage Handling System (BHS) Operator monitors system status, alerts relevant personnel during incidents, and manages baggage flow through the BHS to ensure smooth operations. The operator must understand the system layout and controls to effectively direct response staff and troubleshoot issues.
The operator is responsible for understanding all BHS control system functions, the approved contingency plan, and using these to monitor and control operations, dispatch technicians, and address faults. Supporting management with reports and analysis is optional if it doesn't interfere with primary duties.
This role requires 24/7 shift work, including nights and weekends, with possible variations between dedicated control room shifts and floater shifts based on staffing needs. Effective communication with control room staff, supervisors, managers, airline staff, and external partners is essential.
